Also known as Palakkadan Matta or Rosematta rice, this unique, bold-grain variety is grown in the dense black cotton soil of the Palakkad region. Unlike highly processed white rice, Daawat Matta retains its outer bran layer, giving it a distinctive reddish-brown colour and a rich, earthy flavour that has been a staple of the royal "Sadhya" for centuries.
