Chausa / Chaunsa Mango Curry

Ingredients:

  • 1 ripe Chausa / Chaunsa mango
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon chilli powder (optional)
  • 1/4 cup coconut milk
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Heat a tablespoon of oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until softened about 5 minutes.
  2. Add the garlic, ginger, coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, and chilli powder (if using) and cook for another minute.
  3. Add the mango, coconut milk, and water to the pan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes, or until the mango is soft.
  4. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Serve the curry over rice or naan bread.

Tips:

  • If you don't have coconut milk, you can substitute heavy cream or milk.
  • If you want a spicier curry, add more chilli powder.
  • You can also add other vegetables to the curry, such as potatoes, carrots, or bell peppers.
  • Garnish the curry with fresh cilantro or parsley before serving.

Had a very good meal in Dookan restaurant today. Masala dosa, sambar idly, on request family dosa and the best vadai/vada. Dosa and vadai were so tasty and crispy. Friendly staff.👌😋🌟
