Introduction

Here is a recipe for a dish that uses Asario:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Asario, soaked in water for 30 minutes
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 can (15 ounces) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 cup vegetable broth
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Drain the Asario and set aside.
  2. In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds more.
  3. Stir in the tomatoes, kidney beans, vegetable broth, oregano, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes, or until the stew has thickened.
  4. Stir in the Asario and cook for 5 minutes more.
  5. Serve hot.

Tips:

  • For a spicier stew, add a pinch of cayenne pepper.
  • If you don't have Asario, you can substitute another type of dried fish, such as cod, tuna, or salmon.
  • This stew can be made ahead of time and reheated.
